Visiting the Columbia Icefield Skywalk in spring offers a breathtaking experience as the Canadian Rockies emerge from winter. The Skywalk is a glass-floored observation platform extending 280 meters (918 feet) above the Sunwapta Valley, providing unobstructed views of glaciers, rugged mountains, and cascading waterfalls. The 1-kilometer interpretive walkway leading to the platform features exhibits on the region's geology, ecology, and history, making it both an educational and thrilling adventure.

Getting to the Columbia Icefields Glacier Skywalk

Access to the Skywalk is via a shuttle from the Columbia Icefield Glacier Discovery Centre, located along the Icefields Parkway (Highway 93 N). Visitors are advised to arrive at the Discovery Centre at least 30 minutes before their scheduled departure. Please note that cellphone service is limited in this area, so plan accordingly.
